Demitri woke still safe in his quilt.  He knew he could trust it.  What woke him up was something jumping up and down on him.  The thing was attacking his feet and hands.  Anything that moved under the quilt was fair game.

* wake up * wake up * wake up * wake up *

Demitri created a small opening in the cocoon and let Tomo in. He arranged the quilt into a tent using his headboard and his feet.  The soft light filtering in gave the inside a magic fairy like quality. Tomo patroled every corner of the tent.  He then curled up in a ball at the very center of the tent.  Dimitri fromed himself into a wall around the kitten.

* the frag men are gone *

"How?"

* cee and i met a police officer at the green.  the frog men out numbered the officer, so cee and i went to help him. the frog men must have been scared because they stopped fighting *

"Smart frog men.  I wouldn't want to fight Cee."

* the leader frogman came forward to challenge the police officer.  the police officer was smart and bowed to the frog men. the frog men bowed back and emptied the water from the top of their heads. they turned to dust and blew away *

"Wow, police officers are really smart.  I bet you and Cee would have kicked their butts."

* yeah, I would have attack them like this ! *  Tomo pounced on Demitri's side.  Demitri fell into fits of laughter.  He kicked his feet which cause the tent to colapse around them.  Demitri and Tomo chased each other under the quilt.  Eventually Demitri worked his way out and starting poking Tomo from the top side of the quilt.

* no fair * no fair *

Tomo sprung out from the blankets with a wild look in his eye and all his fur on end.  He spun to the right and left like a paranoid in a monster movie.  Dimitri curled up with laughter and giggles.  Tomo regained his senses and squeezed himself into Demitri's arms.

It was a good start to the day.

They made their way down the hall to the kitchen.  Demitri climbed onto the counter so he could reach the bowls and cereal.  The cereal was the generic version of Oaty O's.  He filled his bowl and left the box on the counter.  The milk was easy to find in the well organized fridge.  His mother was a great cook and could turn even the most basic stuff into a yummy dinner.  His mother just didn't do mornings. Milk was poured -- mostly in the bowl -- and the carton put back in the fridge.  His mother sisn't mind the cerel staying out, but she had a fit if the milk was left out.  Tomo was very considerate and lapped up the spilt milk.

"What do you think is happening?" Demitri asked around bites of cereal.

* cee told me that there is a hole and these things are coming through the hole.  he says that the hole is getting bigger and even bigger things will be coming through *

"There was something in my closet last night.  It was bad and it hit in the dark parts.  I fooled it.  My quilt is magic.  My grandmother made it."

* show me where it was *

Demitri left the cereal bowl on the table.  He hopped to the floor and trotted down the hall to his bed room.  Tomo gave him a bit of a head start, than scrambled after him, passing him easily and sat on the bed.

* what took you so long? * he asked with his most innocent kitten face.

"We are supposed to be serious," Demitri asked with seven year old seriousness.

* ok *

"He was here behind the christmas tree.  You can see where he made a spot for himself."

Tomo when to investigate the spot.  His whiskers immediately flared out and his hair went on end.  This was evil.  This was the thing that stole young kittens from their mothers.  It was the boogeyman.

Tomo scampered back to Demitri and climbed up into his arms.  He shoved his face into Demtri's arm a shivered uncontrolably.
