Ku'uaki's meditions had been disturbed lately.  The shadow wolves were unaffected by the obfuscation spells he used to hide his activities.  They disturbed the natural order and the trees were suffering.

Ku'uaki decided it was time to do something.

He prepared serveral banishing spells on strips of paper he had blessed earlier.  This was actually a japanese technique, but Ku'uaki knew his gods weren't fussy.  Whatever got the job done.

He was dressed in his best cerimonial wear. He held is gourd in one hand and the prepared spells in the other.

He had a bold blue and white floral pattern shirt and white pants.  He had a number of coloured leas around his neck.  He knew that it was a strictly 'Traditonal' out fit, but grass skirts made him itch.  And it was cold.

He was not often called to face creatures directly, but the sheer numbers of creatures appearing in Fredericton called for drastic actions.  Abby had her hands full already.

He centered himself then cast his senses outwards to find the wolves.

The wolves were confused.  They could not find their hunting grounds.  They were in a strange place and did not know what to do.  The smell of humans was everywhere.  However, the humans they had met were easy pickings.  Their spirits were soft and did not fill one.  They could feel one in this strange wood that was strong.  They felt his challenge and gave a great cry in return. Tonight they would feast.

The wolves howl drifted accross the park.  The heart of anyone who heard it was filled with dispair. It drifted on the winds and blanketed the city.  The city was in dispair.

Ku'uaki drew upon the strength of his gods.  This was only the first volley. There was worse to come.

Ku'uaki could feel the darkness circle him.  It was trying to cut him off from his ties to the earth and sky.  Ku'uaki held strong and started to shake his gourd rattle.

The effect was immediate.  The rattling disrupted the wall of sadness the wolves were trying to create. Shadows darted off in all directions. They started and elaborate weaving pattern around him. Ku'uaki kept up the rattling and braced himself for what was to come.

With the precision and timing that comes from hunting together, the wolves took turns at racing by him and taking a swipe then dodging out of reach as another took a bite from the other direction.

Ku'uaki closed his eyes so he could better see the pattern. The dark shapes stood out clearly in his mind.  The pattern turned into a dance and he now was able to flow with it. He held up one of the prepared spell strips, and without breaking the pattern, stuck it on the forhead of one of the attacking wolves. There was a squeal  and one of the dark shaped was banished to where it came from.

With one less member, the pack was forced to change the pattern.  The charges were less frequent, but some of them got through was Ku'uaki adapted to the new pattern.

New pattern estabilished and he was able to tag another wolf as it ran by. Now he could tell that there were only three left.  And these three were cautious.  They enlarged the circle to them themselves some breathing room.  Ku'uaki also took this time to center himself and prepare.
