Abby went back out on patrol. She was not good at waiting. It made her hands itch. She knew that there were onster around. It was just a matter of finding them.
Her target tonight was the vampire. The wolves kept to the Park. The kappas had been dealt with. And she had no idea on how to catch the boogeyman. Vampires she could deal with.
The last attack was at the Victoria Health Centre. That was as good a place as any.
The streets were empty now. It had sunk in that the streets were now dangerous at night. Cars still roamed the street.
Abby kept to the rofttops to avoid detection. Her speed and leaping ability allowed her to jump easily from building to building. She found it uselful in urban areas to avoid the street. Her rooftop highway was usually empty. And when it did contain someone, it was usually the someone she was looking for.
But today it was empty.
From the top of the Victoria Health Centre she could see the west side of downtown Fredericton. She looked around for somwhere a vampire could hide. Behind the Health Centre was the Small Craft Aquatic Center. It was a large building near the river. And it was closed for the season. Worth checking out.
The building itself looked like a large barn. Abby darted around back where she could see a large garage door on either side, a couple of windows and to standard size doors. The locks on the garage doors were fine. One of the standard doors swung loosely on its hinges. The handle had been ripped right out of its morings. This was a bad sign.
Abby entered the building with all her senses on full.
