Abby and Laura kept Cee in sight as he made his way towards York Street.  At the corner of York and Argyle stood the abandoned Hartt show factory.  It was a three story brick building with large windows on every floor.  At one time they made fine men's shoes.  They even had a contract with the RCMP to make their riding boots.  But modern times did not look favorably on the building.  The factory was no more.  There was big talk about what to do with the historic building, but the talk went on and more windows were broken.

But now there was a new development.  Light were seen late at night moving from window to window.  voices were heard, but nothing could be made out.  Given some of the things that were running around Fredericton these days, no one really wanted to investigate.

Cee led them around back.  The double doors to the basement were open.  Abby and Laura thanked Cee and went up to investigate.  Cee found a comfortable spot to wait for them.  He was of two minds.  Yes, he didn't like most humans, but there is something [uncomfortable] about dealing with the dead.

Abby took the lead and disappeared into the darkness of the basement.  Laura stood at the threshold and chivvered in the November cold. Abby came back and motioned Laura to come in.  Laura grabbed one of the glow sticks she had brought and snapped it.  Soon a yellow⁄green glow illuminated the basement.

The basement showed signs of recent occupation.  There were little nests covering the floor.  These nest were made out of old blankets and clothing.  They got further in and noticed that some of the nests were occupied.  The occupants did not notice them.  They were all bloated and discoloured.  Like a corpse.  Laura got the willies and almost dropped the glowstick.

"Hold on the Laura!"

Laura took a breath and tried not to look at the bodies.  Some of them even had autopsy scars.
