No one really noticed the old woman as she entered the SPCA.  Which was strange because her looks wher very particular.

She was wearing a wool kimono decorated in a somber pine tree motif.  She was about four and a half feet tall. The was stoped over and walked with a cherry wood cane. She had a brown wool cap that covered her snowy white hair.  She eyes were striking.  They were bright green eyes that were slanted like a cat's eyes.

She came in quietly and quickly made her way to the first cat room.

All the cats in the room reacted.  They all started rubbing the bars of their cages.  They meowed their prettiest meows.  They rolled on their backs like kittens.  They tried their hardest to get her attention.

She paused a moment with each one.  She would nod sagely and say "There there dear.  It will soon be better."

This was repeated for all the cats in the shelter. Then the old lady walked out as quickly and as unnoticed as before.

Workers at the shelter noticed that all the cats were more relaxed than they normally were. As if they were waiting for something.
